Hydrological Cycle Performance at a Permeable Pavement Site and a Raingarden Site in a Subtropical Region

Low-impact development (LID) structures are widely used to mitigate urbanization impacts on hydrology. The performances of such strongly affected by field conditions, as the ratio LID area drainage and rainfall properties, intensity. In this study, onsite continuous monitoring was performed at a permeable pavement site raingarden in Taipei, Taiwan, determine their water retention groundwater recharge potential under subtropical weather. addition, verified Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) illustrate annual performance hydrological cycle. Based one year monitoring, data 41 24 events were obtained sites, respectively. total 36.0%, 15.9% for raingarden. results showed that average runoff reduction rate 14.7% site, 98.3% retained an underground storage tank. validated model experienced 45.3% outflow, 31.6% evaporation, 23.1% infiltration annually. For with tank, 91.4% infiltrated stored, only 4.1% outflow. According observed event simulated performance, well regions. Pavement approximately 1/3 increased 20%, sufficient tank preserved over 90% rainfall.
